Creatag Privacy Policy
How Creatag handles on-device watermarking, analytics, billing, diagnostics, and support data for the iPhone app.
Effective DateMarch 25, 2026
1. Summary
Creatag processes photo and video watermarking locally on your device. We do not upload your photos or videos to our servers for watermark processing.
We may still process limited analytics, diagnostics, subscription, billing, connectivity, and support-related data so we can operate, secure, and improve the App.
2. Information We Process
A. Media You Select in the App
Photos and videos selected for editing, watermarking, exporting, or sharing are processed locally on your device.
We do not upload your photos or videos to our servers for watermark processing.
B. Data Stored Locally on Your Device
The App stores certain information locally on your device, such as:
- language and theme preferences;
- saved colors, templates, last-used template data, and local editor settings;
- free-tier usage counters; and
- a RevenueCat app user identifier used to help restore and manage purchases.
C. Subscription and Purchase Data
If you use PRO or restore purchases, Apple and RevenueCat may process data such as product identifiers, purchase status, entitlement status, transaction or receipt-related information, and an app user identifier.
D. Analytics and Diagnostics
We use analytics and diagnostics tools, including Vexo and PostHog, to understand app stability and performance.
These tools may process limited technical information such as app version, device state, screen names, operation names, error codes, error messages, timestamps, and limited troubleshooting context needed to diagnose issues.
The App is designed to avoid sending your media files for watermark processing. For PostHog error reporting, the App also normalizes string values, redacts URI-like segments, and hashes certain sensitive telemetry values before sending them.
E. Connectivity Checks
The App may send lightweight network requests to Apple's connectivity endpoint to determine whether the device is offline and whether subscription status should be refreshed after reconnect.
F. Support Communications
If you contact us, we may process the information you choose to provide, such as your email address, message contents, and attachments.
The App may also prefill a shortened RevenueCat user ID in the support email subject to help us troubleshoot billing or subscription issues.
3. How We Use Information
We use information processed through the App to:
- provide editing, export, sharing, and purchase-restore functionality;
- save your settings and preferences locally on your device;
- unlock, validate, or restore PRO access;
- monitor performance, diagnose crashes and errors, and improve reliability;
- detect abuse, misuse, or technical failures; and
- respond to support and legal requests.
4. Legal Bases
If you are in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, we generally rely on one or more of the following legal bases, as applicable:
- performance of a contract, when processing is needed to provide the App or deliver purchases you requested;
- legitimate interests, such as securing the App, understanding failures, improving performance, and preventing abuse;
- your consent or device-level permission choices, where required, such as granting photo library access or choosing to contact support; and
- compliance with legal obligations, where applicable.
5. Sharing and Service Providers
We may share limited data with service providers or platform providers that help operate the App, including:
- Apple, for App Store distribution, in-app purchases, and platform services;
- RevenueCat, for purchase and entitlement management;
- PostHog, for diagnostics and error reporting; and
- Vexo, for product analytics.
These third parties process data under their own terms and privacy practices.
6. International Transfers
Some service providers may process information outside your country of residence. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards required by applicable law.
7. Data Retention
Media you select for editing or export remains on your device unless you save, share, move, or delete it.
Locally stored app settings remain on your device until you remove them, reset the App, or delete the App. Deleting the App removes locally stored app data from your device, including settings, templates, and local usage data.
Analytics, billing, support, and purchase-related data may be retained by us or our service providers for as long as reasonably necessary to operate the App, resolve issues, comply with legal obligations, or enforce rights.
8. Your Choices and Rights
You can:
- revoke photo-library permissions in iOS Settings at any time;
- manage or cancel subscriptions through Apple subscription settings;
- choose not to contact support; and
- delete the App to remove local app data stored on your device, including settings, templates, and local usage data.
Depending on where you live, you may also have legal rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, or data portability. To make a privacy request, contact us at creatag.support@proton.me and include relevant details, such as your shortened RevenueCat user ID if available.
9. Children and Minors
Creatag is not designed to require age verification. If you are under the age of majority in your jurisdiction, you should use the App only with permission from a parent or legal guardian.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the Effective Date and, where practical, communicated in-app or on the public legal page.
